Subject: KBP-5

Jimmy,

Our monitor guy loves my new KBP-5 bass almost as much as I do and Sat. night our FOH guy came backstage after the show and was overflowing with praise for the bass, as well. He said it's the easiest bass that I've played to find that spot in the mix for. Believe me; he's not free with compliments.

Anyway, it's the only bass I play now.

Also, what strings are on this bass, if you recall. It's working so well with these and I hate to mess with the magic.

I hope to be able to visit later in the year.

Take care,

Jimmy,

I got my new bass yesterday and the first thing I noticed just by looking at it was the quality and craftsmanship just seemed to stand out, the bass stood there as if to say..."Wait till you pick me up". I went upstairs to my music room and gave it a very good going over. The quality of the fretwork is excellent and the neck seems to settle in your hand like it was made just for you. The finish and paint is superb, I don't know who you have painting, but it rates right up along with a fine sports car paint job, I ran my fingers over the entire instrument and I'll be darned if I could find one bump or blemish. The setup right out of the box was spot-on and I am not sure how you did this but you are on the mark. As I played it was apparent to me how much you didn't have to work, it was an effortless endeavor to make music and I am looking forward to exploring the sounds, tones and colors it has to offer. I am of the firm opinion that this instrument will make me a better player.

About the only other thing I can say Jimmy is.....Well Done!

Thanks for a superb instrument.

Jimmy,

I just had to write and share my joy with you after spending a day of critical listening with a couple of long time musical friends.  We played a few of my Sadowskys, Warwicks (older pre 90's), an OLD Spector, a Lakland US Bob Glaub , and the amazing Standard 4 you built for me with the Dalbergia Negra Board and the UNBELIEVABLE 3 TS Nitro finish.  After all was said and done, the Alleva was the unanimous favorite by a large margin.  There was an organic feeling to this bass that was lacking in all the others.  My guitarist went so far as to say it was like the Alleva was alive and it felt like it was breathing with me.  I have never experienced anything like it and can only attribute the difference to the love you put into it and the Dalbergia board.  All of my bends and Ghost notes just jumped right off the board and I have never felt more feedback and more response from any instrument before.  I really don't have the words to express my appreciation and respect for what you have given me with this instrument.  It has already become a big part of me and I have requested that when I pass on, this bass is buried with me.  If there is a band for me on the other side I want to make sure I have this bass with me to play! Thank you for everything and for taking the time to make sure that I got exactly what I wanted.  You are truly gifted at what you do and I wish you continued success as your reputation grows...

Much Love,

Hi Jimmy, I received the bass on Wednesday. I have not put it down since. I love it! Great work Jimmy. I'm very pleased. By the way, what type of strings and gauge are on it?

Thanks again for your devotion to your craft.

Hi Jimmy,

I have been looking for a 5 string Jazz bass that sounds and feels like

my beloved, vintage 65 Jazz for quite some time. While walking the NAMM show

this year, I came upon your booth, and there was an orange 5 string Jazz

bass that I just had to play. After playing it for only 5 minutes, I was

hoping it did not already belong to someone else. Lucky for me, it was still

up for grabs.

Not only does the bass look vintage, it sounds, feels and behaves in a

very similar fashion to my 65, which by the way was rated as a 10 on

playability and sound when I had it appraised.

Mind you, I was not planning on buying any new instruments at the show,

but I just had to have this bass once I played it.

Now I finally have a "vintage" 5 string Jazz...

Thanks Jimmy!

I just received it (Preamp Box )about 2 hours ago and you can guess what I have been doing .

This preamp is everything you said it would be. I feel the bass Boost gives another dimension to the low's and makes them more clear and open sounding, while the treble boost is very musical and not brittle at all and also very clear.

I am sure as I get use to using this I will find more settings for it. Overall I am very impressed.

Thanks again for your help,

Allen

This is truly one of the best investments i've made!
Jimmy Copollo is the most genuine person i have ever worked with in the Bass manufacturing industry. My 1600 Bass has phenomenal tone up and down the neck and with exceptional playability. The overall craftsmanship and the durability of the instrument are superior. Thanks again Jimmy you have been instrumental in the development of my music. I will see you soon for my next investment.

Hi Jimmy,

Just wanted to drop you a line to let you know how things are going with the RA-5. The instrument is exquisite! It’s not a term that you would usually apply to a bass, but in this case the compliment is certainly warranted. The fit and detail are wonderful, and the finish is drop dead gorgeous. The bass arrived set up pretty much perfectly and the back of the neck (I think you said you “satined” it?) feels fantastic.

Tone-wise you have nailed it with this instrument. Somehow you have managed to combine the mojo of a 60s bass with the bark of a 70s bass, with the ability to shape in more or less of either. The result is a superb balance of both that can cover anything I need. The passive tone is by far the best I have experienced on any bass.

Thanks for steering me in the right direction on this instrument. I was hesitant to order sight unseen, and now consider myself very fortunate to have had the “stones” to do so, since I have wound up with a spectacular instrument.

Many Thanks,
George Taylor

Jimmy,

Man oh man! You ARE the sh*t! WOW is an understatement...I was so blown away by the job you did on my LG5 that when I saw the Modern 4 up on the site and found out you had it for sale, I HAD to have it! I have had the chance to use them both now in real world settings and I am getting raves by my fellows...A manager that I am working with on a new group told me just last night that I have the cleanest sound he has ever heard. A long time friend and Sax player extraordinaire said that the reason he loves working with me is that I always have such great TONE!!! That is it baby, TONE, TONE, TONE! These 2 monsters have it in spades and I have you to thank for it...I will make this prediction right now...Your work is going to become increasingly well known and you will have no choice but to raise your prices to temper the demand.  I guarantee you have a VERY BRIGHT future ahead of you...You guys are doing GREAT work! Keep doing exactly what you are doing!

Subject: LG-5 Comments and a question

Hi Jimmy:

I have been using my LG-5 for almost a year now and it continues to impress me!  The sound just sits so perfectly in the mix in any setting.  I’m currently playing in a blues band, a country band, a large church, and subbing in a lot of other settings and the bass is just so right for so many different settings.  As I tell people, “it sounds and feels like the best 63 jazz bass I have ever played, but in a 5 string package.”  I don’t know what you did with your pickups, but the tone is absolutely the same from string to string – when there is that audible difference, it really bugs me.  I LOVE yours!

Jimmy,
I received the LG-5 today.  You do great work!  The fretwork is amazing and the setup is perfect.  I really dig the feel of the neck and fingerboard.  Most importantly it sounds and plays great.  It has a great vintage Jazz look, sound and growl – exactly what I wanted.  This will be my primary instrument and I look forward to playing it for years.

Regards,
John

Jimmy-
The Standard is great. I am having a blast. Thanks for everything. My pro days are long gone, but after 40 years of playing you get an idea of what makes you happy, and this guitar has the tones to die for. Hollow body, capped fretboard, your pickups and some magic thrown in is what does it I guess.
Thanks again.

Subject: FYI
Jimmy, I can't thank you enough for one of the most amazing guitars I've

ever owned. I've been a Les Paul guy forever and after receiving the Custom-T I can't seem to put it down. The way the body resonates and the ringing tone and sustain of the pickups make for a versatile sounding instrument.
I've had friends comment that my sound has never been better. The sparkle finish screams rock & roll and the neck is spot on, very smooth. I figure if you were to take the mojo from Bruce Lee, Jimmy Page and Evel Knievel and make that into a guitar, this is what you would get.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Best regards, Gary

P.S. Just thought you might enjoy an online slide show featuring one of my bands, The Hot Rod Lincolns. Please keep in mind that this was photographed prior to receiving the Alleva Coppolo. Talk to you soon. Gary

Hi Jimmy,
I just bought one of your guitars from The Kitchen Studios. WOW! The serial # is G0012 'S' Type with a gold sparkle finish. The tone on this guitar is just phenomenal. The bridge pick-up is the Duncan SJBJ  jr. I would prefer to have one of your bridge pick-ups to drop in the  that position simply because the middle and neck pick-ups you wound
are stellar.
Can you let me know if I can purchase one from you?

Anyway, love your stuff man!
Best Regards,
John

Hi Jimmy. Loving the bass, using it a lot. I will call you soon. Saw your axe with Nathan Watts in BP. brought a smile to my face. Here's a pic for you from a show a couple a couple weeks ago where I sat in with Keith Urban. Sorry it's a little lo-res...

Jimmy, this bass is truly amazing. I've felt guilty for neglecting my custom shop because I cant seem to put this one down even for one song at a gig.  Everyone that has come into contact with it has loved it and wants to know where they can get their own.  Jim Rubio (Atlanta Bass Gallery) knows the reputation of your products and was extremely impressed with my new baby (still cant think of the right name for her yet). Thanks again for such a supreme product and I look forward to my next A~C creation!

Subject: RE: Your Alleva Coppolo LS-5

Well, I just got back from practice with this bass and I must say it kicks ass. The bass sounds great by itself but tonight was the first time I really put it to the test. We have a keyboard player, 2 guitars, a drummer and a young lady who has the most amazing voice. Let me say that this bass shines. It cut through with no problem at all and the tone was thick. I play through a GK1001RB head going into a Schroeder 1212, which pushes 700w. The 'B' string sounded full and rich. The pickups and preamp are awesome and the weight felt just right. It made no difference where I played on the neck, the tone was amazing. Everyone commented on how great the bass sounded. I am hooked!! Finger style or spanked, this bass delivers. Jimmy, you are a master craftsman.
Thanks for putting so much heart and soul into this bass. I will play the Hell out of it.

Hi just wanted you to know you are the shitzkee. That fucking bass is awsome. How can it be so perfect. Man you know your shit. I will be forever greatful and consider you one of the coolest guys on the planet. I might have to order a four string and sell my Joe Osborne Lakland signature bass now.
Thanks your friend for life. J Painter

Wow, where do I begin? Ok, I’ll start with the obvious; the look. I was stunned when I unzipped the gig bag and pulled the bass out. The pictures that you sent me did not do this bass justice. The see through white over the ash is stunning, perfectly applied and completely flawless. The neck has the look of a vintage bass while being brand new. How did you accomplish that? The Madagascar Rosewood board looks like fine chocolate. The fretwork is perfect and the bass has a broken in feel already. The fact that the weight is less than 9 pounds is also a HUGE plus. Ok, enough with that. I will just sum it up with one word; Perfection.

Now lets move on to the guts. I love your pickups and preamp. The preamp gives the bass the extra kick it needs without sounding too colorful. The woods are allowed to speak and the preamp just amplifies and boosts without over enhancing. In passive mode this is a 60’s Jazz bass period. I adjusted the truss rod a bit less than half a turn over 2 days (we knew it would have to be done, you are in NY and I am in California) and raised the saddle on the G string and now this bass plays like it was meant to be in my hands.

I love the tone of this bass plugged in and recorded a bit with it last night in Pro Tools. Man, this thing sounds great. I just got the M Box 2 and as soon as I figure it out I will send you some audio samples. I will be playing in the studio with my guys early next week. I can’t wait to really unleash this bad boy.

Jimmy, to say that I love this bass would be a huge understatement. The fit, finish and overall build quality is as good as or better than anything I have ever played. You can give any builder a run for his money.

The question I now ask myself is “when will I order a P-Bass…”

Thanks Jimmy, you are the man.

Jimmy, these photo's are from the tour in Italy, the artists'name is giorgia (bmg europe).the tour was the first time I used the axe (which I’m absolutely in love with.)
all of the techs and other guitarists fell in love with the guitar
too, the paint job has a lot to do with people's attraction to the
axe, so hats off to you and your staff jimmy for a great guitar.
much respect and thanx

Jimmy my man, just a quick note to let you know I'm really loving the bass.

It sounds and plays great, it's awesome. You know the real test is a rocking gig, and it's real easy to play and not crapping out when punished, cause you know I dig in. The sound man loves it. I'm sorry to say I'm wasting no time f**king up the finish on the back where my belt is, but in my opinion that just makes it mine, and that's mo' betta. We're doing a few of the bigger TV gigs here, so it's been getting  airtime down under.

Thanks again

Jimmy,

What can I say about your basses, but DAMN !!!
After years of bugging you, I am proud to be the first AC5 owner.
As you know, my AC5 has become my main "Bigg Redd" bass and gets a lot of use.
It has served me well and is requested often, live & in the studio.
And, now ...  my new candy apple red KPB-4 is just awesome.
On it's own, or with my AC pre-amp pedal, this bass is just boomin'.
Thanks for providing me with the warm, phat tones to help me lay down  Booty Shakin' Grooves.

Keep up the great work.
Your friend,
Jason Langley (aka Jerome).
